This year’s UN climate summit has generated an unusual amount of interest — partly because of the severity of the climate crisis and partly because it is being held in the Brazilian city of Belem, in the Amazon. As global newsrooms prepare their coverage of COP30, how are Brazilian newsrooms, including those based in the Amazon, planning for the summit? What do they want to make sure their journalistic colleagues from outside of Brazil understand? In this session, we’ll hear from Brazilian reporters who will be covering COP. And we’ll hear about a unique opportunity for global newsrooms to access a live feed of COP coverage, organized by Brazilian reporters intimately familiar with the Amazon.
