Overview of SACJH
Hosted and convened by the non-profit Covering Climate Now, the South Atlantic Climate Journalism Hub is a regional partnership of newsrooms and journalists in the exceptionally climate-vulnerable US states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware.
Through a robust mentorship program, on-demand support, in-person and virtual events, and region-specific resources, the Hub aims to strengthen and increase local coverage highlighting the vast impacts of climate change stretching from the Atlantic coast to the Appalachian mountains.
There is no cost to join and no membership fees — everything offered is completely free for reporters, editors, newsroom managers, and digital journalists working in local print, radio, TV, social, and online publications across the Southeastern US.

Climate Mentorship Program
Open only to Hub individual members and newsrooms, this exclusive professional development program is designed to help journalists build skills, confidence, and community with peers from across the Southeast.
Drawing from CCNow’s acclaimed international training series, this two-month mentorship program, offered virtually over Zoom, includes weekly sessions devoted to understanding current climate science, hurricanes, data centers, and much more. Each session is live and interactive, with practical tools, exercises, examples, and time for discussion.

Interviews With Experts & Regional Resources
Let us help you tackle a growing issue — locating regional environmental experts willing to speak on camera. Hub members will receive regular, monthly interview clips with scientists and meteorologists, conducted by CCNow staff and available to freely use in their coverage. CCNow staff will also be available for immediate support or interviews on emerging issues — such as wildfires, droughts, hurricanes, or state utility plans.
CCNow staff, drawing on their extensive professional and personal experience working in the Carolinas, can also provide rapid assistance to ensure your local climate coverage is timely and accurate. We encourage members to sign up for both CCNow’s newsletters and the dedicated Hub newsletter to access upcoming events, story ideas, job opportunities, and resources to sharpen your skills.

The Hub aims to connect the region’s diverse community of newsrooms, freelance reporters, and meteorologists to inspire curiosity, share knowledge, and elevate high-quality climate journalism — online, in person, and everywhere in between.
